Here’s another thought experiment. [Using my own non-physicist words.] Einstein said that gravity was like acceleration. But maybe gravity IS acceleration. Since our universe is accelerating into the infinity of space it will never stop accelerating and it will never run out of space. Infinity is infinite and the speed of light is based on subjective criteria: Kilometers and seconds. If space is expanding forever, distance becomes meaningless, and time becomes relative.

If gravity is acceleration, then the mystery of gravity as a force somehow begins to make sense, because it’s not a force at all. It is a repulsive movement away, not an attractive movement toward. Gravity is centrifugal instead of centripetal. Maybe the whole theory of gravity needs to be re-thought. This concept turns the universe inside out, but it potentially opens up a whole new area of astrophysics.

Crazier theories have turned out to be true.
