I agree that Harris is the obvious/default choice. She was a prosecutor, the California Attorney General, as US Senator and now the Vice President. She’s been vetted and tested. If it is she who continues the Biden legacy, she can announce Biden as her most trusted adviser. He can endorse her as his successor; still Biden should release his delegates to make the official selection democratic. Already, Harris is being promoted by several sitting Democrats as well as several in the progressive/liberal elite and media circles.
Gretchen Whitmer is the next viable alternative, but she doesn’t have national name recognition – yet. None of the other male candidates thus far mentioned have the recognition or the gravitas either. Lastly, cashiering the first Black woman elected to be first in line to the President for another white establishment type would be catastrophic to the Democratic Black base and to women in general.
What a fine mess we’ve gotten ourselves into!
