I did not say that the Framers meant to give us a duopoly, it was definitely an unforeseen error.

The EC is an impediment to true representative government. The German model sounds good but I admit I am not studied in their system. Unfortunately, our federal system is top-down. I doubt any amount of voting for the local dog-catcher will trickle up to the presidential level. We are stuck with the EC unless and until it can be eliminated or reformed to reflect the will of the diverse people living today, not the people who have been dead for almost 2 1/2 centuries.

I think your thesis drawing a comparison between 2 and 3 dimensions and connecting it with what we have today is an inspired way of looking at the problem. If only that could be a talking point on a national level it might break through as, god forbid...a COMMON SENSE approach.
