I think you're 'whistling past the graveyard.' Ron InSantis is being marketed as the 'smart Trump,' even the 'sane Trump,' in the conservative Republican world. They love his anti-liberal fascist agenda. They want to 'own the libs' even while these con-artists are actually owning the rubes, and themselves.

The 'modern' Republican Party has conned itself and it is perfectly ok with that. They live in an echo chamber, a conspiracy laden world of woke boogeymen. They live in fear of M&M's, pronouns and George Soros. They feed off each other's hatred of "those people" who are not like them.
