I’m ambivalent about the British monarchy. On the one hand, the royal heirs act like royal errors, the British equivalent of the Kardashians. On the other, Queen Elizabeth was a true patriot and a woman of the people. Her courage during WWII was something to be admired then, and now.

Although I would never want an American monarch, during all the ensuing calamities that nation and the world have suffered Queen Elizabeth has been the one unshakeable pillar the British people could turned to, knowing that she loved the UK above all else, and that they could trust her and she would never betray their trust. She was a proven leader.

Would that we had such trustworthy leadership here.
