I'm reading now his biography, 'Alexander the Great' by Robin Lane Fox. It's an incredibly detailed history and astonishing in its depth of psychology, beautifully written but not an easy read. To say Alexander the Great was complex would be a great disservice; what else would you expect of the son of Phillip and student of Aristotle? I cannot condone, nor can I fully condemn, the death and destruction Alexander wrought from my 21st century perch. Suffice it to say, I am in awe from afar.
