In my humble reading of the article, it was very clear that the author stated this discussion was not provable science but literally thinking “outside of the region where inflation ends.” I find that infinitely [pun intended] more comforting than Father Lemaître’s one-shot God-centered universe.
If Siegel’s view is correct, and again it is unverifiable and unfalsifiable, then the multiverse has been expanding infinitely in space and eternally in time. Since infinity and eternity are by definition undefinable, it would only make sense that we are all part of a cosmic substance that had no beginning and has no end. Gods need not apply.
