“It’s the economy, stupid.” It’s always the economy.

Electoral College calculus is certainly the ultimate challenge; however, it is intertwined with the issues. If Harris loses, I think her biggest mistake will have been the economy. Not the “bad” economy, but the “recovering” economy. The American Rescue Plan of 2021 and the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 have been effective in both the American recovery and inflation reduction. But Trump’s endless narrative of a horrible economy has been as effective as his endless claim of 2020 election fraud in convincing many Americans otherwise.

Harris should have, could have had an effective counter-narrative: The Biden-Harris economic policies took time to work, but they are working. Job growth is up, unemployment is down. Wages are going up and inflation is going down. The stock market is breaking records daily and the Fed is poised to further cut interest rates.

The American economy is the envy of the world. Let’s not go back to the failed “Trickle-down” con-game. Let’s keep the economy moving in the right direction: Forward!
