Kamala riding a Democratic wave may defeat Trump in November, at which point Trump may, finally, not be feared again but Trumpism will remain. Remember, Trumpism existed before Trump jumped in to lead the parade. Republicans have had this authoritarian/white supremacist bent before. Joe McCarthy and Nixon are only two egregious examples, but the subtext has a long pedigree.

My point is this: Though we may someday no longer fear Trump the man, the NEXT Trump will have learned not to repeat his mistakes.

Democracy must be defended by every new generation.
