Let me explain my thoughts further:

Jesus told us that his core message was love.

“Teacher, what is the greatest commandment?”

“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

Jesus also told us how to practice perfect love, in the Beatitudes.

I try to follow the message and the method. I fail because I am human, then I try again. I do not know if Jesus was literally God, and I do not care. Jesus carried God within himself, and that’s good enough for me.
