Notwithstanding the comments here about Pete's poor playing, I remember reading something that John said, "Pete was a better drummer, but Ringo was a better Beatle." Ringo's drumming certainly propelled the group through their journey.

Ironically, when the Beatles hit America, it was again the drummer, this time Ringo, who received most of the attention from "the girls."
