How exhilarating it is to see Joe Biden leave the scene with the respect and dignity he has earned.

A half-century of public service, consummated with the pinnacle of success — the Presidency! Even more to his credit, he courageously selected a qualified double-minority person to be his understudy. He mentored her, partnered with her; prepared her for the great task of protecting the Biden progressive legacy and inspiring a new generation of Democrats to realize America’s hope of a more perfect union. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness through diversity, equity and inclusion is the essence of the American experiment in self-government of, by and for all the people; it is the promise of 1776. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris believe in that promise, and they have demonstrated that belief throughout their careers.

Kamala Harris can be everything that Joe Biden has shown us that she can be. Already Harris’s prominence has been rising. She’s smart. She’s tough. She’s confident and courageous under pressure, she has passed the tests, and her resume is superb. Harris was a fearless state prosecutor and Attorney General, a respected California Senator, and now the Vice President of the United States. Imagine this scenario: Biden now bows out with honor and grace and endorses Harris as his heir apparent. She pledges to pursue the ideals of liberal democracy, to protect the Constitution from…
