Stating a personal fact, not boasting, I’ve had about 7 years of “higher education.” The smartest people I have ever met knew that they had much to learn. The most ignorant people I’ve ever met thought that they knew everything they needed to know.

IMHO, the main failing of America’s educational system is not so much what it does or does not teach students to think, it’s that it does not teach students HOW think. Critical thinking, analysis, logic, skepticism and circumspection are lost arts. And that is a loss for us all.
