The self-centered arrogance of virtually every generation never ceases to amaze me. I guess it’s a human thing to think that “we” are superior to everyone who ever was; it justifies our every action today to think that we know better because we are best.

Should the human race be so lucky as to survive for another century or two, does it ever occur to any of us that our descendants may look back at us and see our practices as barbaric to them? It’s often been said that we cannot change the past but we can change the future. Maybe, but it certainly seems as though we refuse to do so.
