Well balanced response, Chris. Balance works until it doesn't. Such as our out of balance duopoly. While it may have gotten us through our first two and a half centuries, with a bit of a kerfuffle mid 1860's, it doesn't seem to serve us well in our current increasingly complex world.

Personally, I would like to see a viable third party. Such a politics I believe would lead to much more stable majorities than 50% +1. Imagine a political discourse where two opposing parties had to convince not each other but 1/3 of the body politic in order to form a solid 2/3 majority. Sure, no one is perfect but the strong will of the people, I think, if far more preferrable than our Tweedledum versus Tweedledee choices today.
