When did the USSR collapse? For a few moments during the Gorbachev/Yeltsin years? It's Putin's reconstituted USSR dream now, to which, for better or for worse, NATO must counterbalance. I find it painfully laughable that anyone thinks Putin is interested in "diplomatic engagement/negotiated settlement."

Nuclear war? It is a murder-suicide pact.
