When you describe conservatives, you can hear conservatives describing liberals. That is another conservative trait: Projection. Also known as, the best defense is a good offense. Define your opponent before they define you. The far-right operates on fear and loathing rather than peace and love, but they accuse the left of lies and hate and make their case first, foremost, loud and often. Thus, they protect themselves from that frontal assault. The most egregious examples: DemocRATS stole the election. DemocRATS are the real racists.

It's almost impossible to combat this projection trap because it immediately forces one into a defensive posture; and, if you’re explaining, you’re losing. I think this is why Democrats tend to ignore it, with a passive, "Who believes this stuff?" The answer, sadly, is, a lot of people.
